Da qualche giorno è on-line Stereomood , una free emotional internet radio. Si tratta di una bella idea di quattro amici, sviluppatori web e music addicted, che hanno fatto dell’aspetto più sfuggevole e impalpabile della musica, le emozioni, il loro punto di partenza.
Stereomood è una radio “emozionale”. In pratica, l’utente comunica il proprio stato d’animo, o quello che sta facendo in un dato momento, e gli viene fornita una playlist di brani che corrispondono al suo mood .
Stamattina l’ho provata: ho registrato il mio account (con l’immancabile avatar di Gainsbourg) e ho selezionato la mia activity. E , anche se ero in ufficio da un’ora, clicco su “just wake up“. Stereomood mi spara in cuffia Gamma Ray di Beck e per quel che mi riguarda, potrei già ritenermi soddisfatto. Ma faccio un’altra prova, questa volta in base al mood. Scelgo dreamy e anche qui la musica che mi viene proposta è adeguata alla mie aspettative: Radiohead, Royksopp, Yann Tiersen.
Al suo primo vagito, il progetto Steremood è ovviamente perfettibile e sono certo che migliorerà nel tempo. D’altra parte, da quanto mi è stato raccontato, chi ci ha lavorato lo ha fatto per pura passione, nei week-end. E l’amore per quel che si fa è già una garanzia di qualità.
Non sono in grado di dire se la cosa funzionerà, se verrà apprezzata. So che a me piace chi fa qualcosa che serva e sono dell’opinione che Stereomood stia dando il suo onesto contributo per migliorare lo stato della musica on-line, migliorando le ricerche soprattutto dal punto di vista qualitativo. E forse, di questo passo, il web semantico non è poi così lontano.
E’ accaduto il 22 gennaio ma solo ieri è iniziata circolare la notizia della morte di Charles W. Cooper dei Telefon Tel Aviv. Era appena uscito il loro bellissimo nuovo album “Immolate yourself”. Charles aveva 31 anni.

It breaks my heart to inform you all that Charlie Cooper, my better half in Telefon Tel Aviv, passed away on January 22nd.
We have been friends since high school, and began making records together a decade ago. We have been so fortunate to tour the world together, while at the same time having a massive amount of laughs at one another’s expense.
Aside from Charlie’s singular genius and musical gifts, I can tell you that he was a total sweetheart of a guy, and a loving friend and confidant to people everywhere. His musicianship was surpassed only by his greater gift to the world – his warmth, his generosity, his unquenchable humor, and his undying loyalty to those whom he loved. In the spirit of honorable mention, however, I should mention that he had a shoe collection that was marvelous, knowledge of hip-hop that was profound, and knowledge of wine that was subtle.
He is survived by a sister, a neice, a nephew, his mother, his stepfather, me, and more adoring friends than the Universe has dark matter. As such, his family and I ask for your discretion and consideration of our privacy during these extremely turbulent waters.

The Mal D’Archive is a project at the turn of independent electronic and sound design that sees its distinctive feature in the intersection between two apparently irreconcilable worlds such as experimental music on the one hand and the “chanson” for the more harmonious and Matrix melodic heritage of Italian music on the other.
Pharadigmatic elements of Battisti (first of all, a master of music degree in commercial attention to the universe of sound and harmony), as well as Fabrizio DeAndrè, Leò Ferrè, George Brassens, Massimo Volume, and many others is mentioned as tutelar figures, fragmented and dissolved into a homogenous sound magma and inscrutable, but not for this lack of balance as large moments of pleasantness. The structures of cyclic ballads of popular music, once cut, destructured, with the ring out and “work” become sound fragment, bearer of spaces and places strong connotations. These capsules image-time tools that Le mal d’archive disclaim spatially, in many molds.

E anche il concerto dei Motorpsycho l’abbiamo visto. Questo è il dovere dell’indieboy, in fondo. Se c’è un concerto, si valuta l’ipotesi di spendere dai 10 ai 20 euro in base al tasso di figosità che ne comporta la presenza allo stesso. Mi si nota di più se vengo e me ne sto in disparte o se non vengo per niente? E’ un lavoro sporco ma quacuno deve pur farlo.
In ogni caso, i 20 euro i Motorpsycho li valevano tutti, con quel loro mood anni ’70. Un trio di hyppies tirati via per la barba dalla loro comune e sbattuti su un palco a suonare indie. Strepitosi! E poi, tra loro e gli Xiu Xiu inizio a rivalutare la mia diavoletto.
Mi fermo qui perché è tardi e non ho alcuna intenzione di recensire il concerto. Dico solo questo, ho speso altri 15 euro per la t-shirt.
